Formed 40 years ago in South Africa, SRK Consulting is today a global leader in natural resource and development solutions. The network of 50 offices is spread across 22 countries and employs 1 500 staff members. In Africa, SRK has practices in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, South Africa – with nine offices – and Zimbabwe, as well as an established presence in Angola, Cameroon and Malawi.   • Civil and structural engineering: This includes key aspects such as project management, design, drawing and contract documentation for the provision of civil and structural infrastructure to mining, urban, commercial and industrial developments.
  • Environmental and social: From environmental assessments to the social and institutional aspects of environmental management systems planning. Specific services include: the assurance of integrated sustainability reports; environmental due diligence using equator principles; environmental assessments to meet International Finance Corporation Performance Standards and in-country legislation; assistance with corporate environmental and social management systems; the conducting of performance assessment reports; and legal compliance audits.
  • Water: SRK’s services in this field include groundwater (such as waste site monitoring and contaminant plume modelling and remediation), surface water (including specialist investigations, stormwater management, river basin projects and flood studies), water quality management and treatment, water infrastructure development, and water management policies and practice.
  • Waste management: These services include waste disposal opera- tions, pollution control measures, and instrumentation installation and monitoring. These include: integrated waste management plans; site selection and design; geotechnical investigations; public participation; operations manuals; waste stream audits and risk assessments; and closure and rehabilitation.
  • Geotechnics: Geotechnical feasibility and site selection studies, geotechnical and site investigations, risk evaluations, detailed design and contract documentation as well as project management services.
  • Exploration and mining: SRK offers specialist exploration geologists and mining engineers with a complete mining consultancy service, ranging from exploration planning, integrated feasibility studies and economic evaluations to detailed mine design, mine layouts, production scheduling, equipment selection, evaluation of materials handling systems, contract documentation and contract administration services.
