From Creamer Media in Johannesburg, this is the Real Economy Report. On August 13, South Africa's latest aircraft design, the Advanced High-performance Reconnaissance Light Aircraft, made its first public flight. Keith Campbell was there.

Keith Campbell:
The aircraft, known as the Ahrlac for short, made its maiden flight before the media at Wonderboom Airport, north of Pretoria. The aircraft is a project of local private-sector defence group Paramount, with local aerospace company Aerosud as the prime contractor. The Managing Director of Aerosud and of Ahrlac Holdings, Dr Paul Potgieter, gives us his thoughts about the project.
