South Africa’s favourite water brand, aQuellė, is the proud global award winner for the latest edition to its range, ViV power and sports drinks. Winners of the Zenith Global 17th Global Water Drinks Award were announced in a virtual ceremony today with ViV taking the honours in the category “Best New Brand”. The industry’s only Global Drinks Award is designed to celebrate excellence and innovation across every category of the packaged water industry. Winning the award affords the brand and product recognition on an international scale.

The all-new ViV power and sports drinks range by aQuellé is designed to optimise active lifestyles within an African context. It consists of four unique and energising flavours: ViV Power is packed with guarana and natural caffeine, while the Pineberry, Gardenfruit and Kalamansi sports drinks revive with added electrolytes and B vitamins. All are made with pure natural spring water.

Inspired to create the ideal bottle for physical activity, Brian Steinhobel designed the unique bottle which fits ergonomically into the user's hand. The ultimate grip and extreme aesthetic appeal makes it dramatically different to any other bottle in this market.

The sophisticated yet vibrant label design by Just Design uses triangular patterning, derived from the V in ViV, and flows dynamically over the contours of the bottle. High-energy typography gives a sense of power and forward action. This design ticks the big 3 packaging checkboxes - shelf standout, brand cohesion and easy range navigation.

Using the latest Crystal XPS and HD Flexi technologies, Polyflex developed flexographic plates, producing a crisp print that highlights the vibrant colours and smooth vignette.

The innovative bottle with elegant curves required similar technical innovation from MCC Label to supply a shrink sleeve with maximum shrinkage of almost 70% whilst maintaining artwork design integrity and a distortion and crease-free shrink result.

Two full vertical micro-perforation lines inserted into the sleeve allow for the release of steam during application. The addition of a third perforation line, an industry first, enables easy removal of the sleeve to support the recycling of the PET bottle post-consumer usage. This emphasises aQuellé’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

The new ViV range has been making its way into trade since August 2021 and can be found in a number of leading retail outlets and forecourts.

aQuellé natural spring water, including its latest brand ViV, is bottled by Ekhamanzi Springs (Pty) Ltd, with two production facilities in KwaZulu Natal and one in Franschhoek.
