The South African Institution of Chemical Engineers (SAIChE) are the proud organisers of the Global Congress of Chemical Engineering, scheduled to take place from October 6 to 11, 2024, at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.  This presents a remarkable opportunity for South Africa and the field of Chemical Engineering, as we play host to international delegates, companies, and expert speakers. For the first time, South Africa enjoys the support of the international chemical engineering community, through their respective federations and associations, to host such a significant event.

The congress's theme is "TO SUSTAINABILITY AND BEYOND!" Within each category of the 17 United Nations' sustainable development goals, we have a crucial role to play. Bringing together like-minded individuals creates an ideal setting for fostering partnerships to achieve these goals. The congress serves as a platform for individuals, groups, governments, and companies to showcase their sustainability and regenerative initiatives. Participants can discuss how they are departing from "business as usual" by adopting smarter and innovative approaches to processes, products, energy and water consumption, and waste generation. This is an opportunity for genuine discussions on the requirements, limitations, frustrations, and rewards of a sustainable future.

In addition to global networking opportunities, attendees have the chance to earn continuous professional development points (CPD) through Congress participation and workshop attendance, contributing to skills development for both company employees and individuals. The Congress offers a range of activities, including formal presentations, discussion forums, networking and social events, and an industry exhibition. Special events include a "Woman in Chemical Engineering" gathering, a "Young Chemical Engineer's Forum", a school outreach event, and a "Chemical Engineering THINK Tank" focusing on pertinent issues.

The diverse topics to be covered in posters, industry, technical and research papers, as well as plenary and keynote talks, encompass areas such as Chemical Engineering in society; Safety; Process engineering and fundamentals; Chemical and biochemical production; Operational excellence and process control; AI and the 4th industrial revolution; Energy; Water; Food and agriculture; Health and Pharma; Materials and corrosion; Green mining; Chemical engineering education and profession; and Environmental engineering.

Abstract submissions are currently open, and opportunities still exist to secure exhibition space and to sponsor.  For details consult https://gcce2024.co.za/ or contact our office at info@gcce2024.co.za

Partner with the South African Institution of Chemical Engineers and invest in your future by supporting this event. Let us demonstrate to the world that industry is the solution to the global challenges we currently face, contrary to the negative perceptions held by citizens and governments globally.
