South Africa and Kenya this week entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on investment cooperation on the sidelines of a State visit to the East African country by South Africa’s President Jacob Zuma.

Investment South Africa (ISA) and its counterpart Kenya Investment Authority (KenInvest) intended to improve the strategic promotion and facilitation of trade and investment between the two countries.

“The two organisations cooperate well in global forums and it makes sense that South Africa, as the regional hub in Southern Africa, and Kenya, the regional hub in East Africa, cooperate on expanding trade and investment relations,” KenInvest MD Dr Moses Ikera said in a statement issued on Thursday.

The two organisations are expected to meet regularly to undertake an implementation plan and provide support for capacity building.

South Africa, which has over 60 companies operating in Kenya, sees further opportunities in Kenya in agroprocessing, manufacturing, information and communication technology, infrastructure and financial services.
