SUNCybernetics will be hosting its solar PV introductory training course at the Solar Training Center of SA, North West University, Potchefstroom on Thursday, 25 September 2014, from 10h00 to 16h00 at a cost of R1,500-00 per person. SUNfarming Germany, in association with the North-West University, Faculty of Engineering, established the Solar Training Centre South Africa at the Engineering Campus in June 2013.

A key driver for the center is to enhance job creation through skills transfer. Therefore a partnership project between SUNfarming Germany and SUNCybernetics in South Africa―one of the SUNfarming project developers―to provide practical training opportunities at the NWU for persons at the Engineering Faculty, and in the region, who require a comprehensive theoretical and practical understanding of PV solar systems. The training modules are generic and have been developed to South African requirements by SUNfarming Germany’s trainers and train-the-trainer programs have ensured that the skills remain in South Africa. The course is for beginners and those that want to explore the possibilities of PV technology in South Africa. Topics covered include technical considerations like fuse choices, overvoltage and EMF-protection, monitoring, metering, cabling do’s and don’ts, electrical circuits as well as troubleshooting PV-plants, module types, project planning, installation, inverters, etc.

SUNfarming installed a PV plant at NWU which is used as the practical training module for the Solar PV introductory course providing valuable information about specific market conditions and requirements applicable to South African technologies and standards. It showcases the preparation, planning, project execution, installation techniques and commissioning of PV plant installations on different roof areas. The Solar PV introductory course is presented by SUNCybernetics and has since establishment already trained over 250 delegates. Delegates have travelled from the mayor cities in South Africa to take advantage of the international-level training provided at the Center.
