Name of the Project
Slurry Kiln (SK) 9 project.

Location
The project is located in South Africa’s North West province.

Client
PPC Slurry.

Project Description
The project involves the construction of a one-million-tonne-a-year clinker production line.

A number of leading technology features have been incorporated into the SK9 — plant design that will ensure optimised production, reduced heat and electrical energy consumption, and increased plant
availability.

One of the most sophisticated technologies is its six-stage preheater with an in-line calciner, which assists with thermal efficiency of clinker production.

SK9 will also boast a multichannel burner to allow for flame-shape adjustment, thereby providing the optimal heat transfer needed for the chemical reactions that place within the kiln line.

A higher level of automation and process controls will allow for better tracking and quicker adjustment of process parameters
to enhance consistent quality of plant output. With resource efficiency and sustainability considered central to the design of the SK9 plant, it will use a number of technologies that enhance the longevity of its components.
