Two new solar power solutions were recently launched at the Alliance for Rural Electricity’s (ARE’s) Energy Access Investment Forum 2022 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Designed to withstand extensive use for a wide range of power needs, the new solar products from Schneider Electric are aimed at communities that have little or no access to energy.

“Aligned with the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals, Schneider Electric is committed to having a positive impact on our many stakeholders, especially when it comes to addressing climate change and social inequality,” said Schneider Electric country president East Africa Carol Koec. “Our energy efficient products and solutions are designed to help communities that live in locations where the grid is either unreliable or non-existent.”

The company’s Homaya Pro solar-hybrid inverter converts direct current electricity to alternating current and is designed to be used in standalone systems or connected to a grid. It can power the energy needs of a household or a small business, with solutions ranging from 3 kW, 4 kW or 6 kW and is suited to provide renewable energy access for homes, fuel stations, small offices, healthcare centres, schools and telecommunications infrastructure.

The inverter is powered by solar energy with an inbuilt Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) controller. It is compatible with grid charging and supports lead or lithium battery technologies. Up to six inverters can be connected in parallel for a combined output of up to 24 kW. Optional accessories include external MPPT, to extend a solar array by 1 kW or 3 kW and increase backup capacity, as well as a WiFi dongle to allow local Internet monitoring without a mobile application.

Schneider Electric’s Mobiya Original solar lantern is said to provide users with safe, reliable and clean energy for lighting and USB charging needs. The upgraded version of the original robust, waterproof lantern incorporates new design features and improvements that make it easier to handle and use.

Made from recyclable materials, this latest version produces 280 lumens and includes settings to save power and prolong lighting performance over time.
