Seychelles will become the 161st member of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) on April 26.

It applied for WTO membership in May 1995 and completed its application process in October 2014, whereafter WTO members approved its accession in December 2014.

On March 25, President James Michel signed the Instrument of Acceptance of the Accession Protocol confirming its membership terms and handed the documentation to the WTO Accessions division. This activated the 30-day countdown to its WTO membership.
