The development is being built on property acquired by SEW-Eurodrive in Aeroton, Johannesburg, in Gauteng, South Africa.

Project Description
The project entails the construction of new facility that will serve as SEW-Eurodrive’s factory and new South African headquarters.

It includes the construction of a 25 000 m2 factory on property acquired by SEW-Eurodrive two years ago, for which the necessary earthworks were completed in September 2020.

The new factory will accommodate several of the company’s assembly plants in the country to develop better efficiencies and contain costs.

Over a three- to five-year period, the factory will be fitted with Industry 4.0-compliant tech­nologies, including automated assembly machines and guided vehicles.

The old head office and factory will become the company’s large-gearbox repair centre.

Capital Expenditure
The project will cost an estimated R200-million to implement.

The Industry 4.0-compliant technologies will cost at least another R200-million.

Planned Start/End Date
Construction started on October 1, 2020.

Construction is scheduled for completion by October 2021, and the company plans to move to its new premises in January 2022.
