SENTECH Enables Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) for the Ngqeleni Community
This article has been supplied as a media statement and is not written by Creamer Media. It may be available only for a limited time on this website.
SENTECH, the state-owned broadcasting signal distributor, fulfilled its mandate by concluding its DTT infrastructure installation process of the 183 transmitter stations nationwide and a Direct-To-Home (DTH) broadcasting infrastructure to ensure 100% DTT access for all South African citizens.
The migration from analogue to digital television enables ordinary South Africans, such as the Ngqeleni community to access a wider range of free-to-air channels with high quality picture and clearer sound, irrespective of their geographical location.
The launch of the SENTECH DTT site in Ngqeleni, marks another milestone for the country’s digital migration journey. This site is one of the four new green field sites which were established for DTT. The construction of this site commenced in January 2014 and was completed in March 2015.
The Ngqeleni site is fully operational and currently services SABC 1, 2, 3; e.tv and Tru FM. Further coverage to the Ngqeleni community is transmitted through SENTECH’s Mthatha site for the community to reach Umhlobo Wenene, Ukhozi and Lesedi FM.
