The Steel and Engineering Industries Federation of Southern Africa (Seifsa) has appointed Dr Michael Ade chief economist and Marique-Mari Kruger economist with effect from July 17 and August 1, respectively.

Ade will join Seifsa from the South African Revenue Service where he is capacity director for programmes and research, while Kruger has worked as an economist for Absa, Statistics South Africa and the University of Johannesburg.

Seifsa CEO Kaizer Nyatsumba said these high-calibre appointments indicated Seifsa’s intention to ensure it continues to be an unequalled repository of information on the economics of the metals and engineering sector.

“They both bring an extensive wealth of experience, expertise and knowledge that is necessary to provide economic analysis of issues affecting the industry,” he said.
