  • 12 teams from 12 countries have been selected to participate in the final phase of the challenge
  • Finalists will present their case study on June 19th at Schneider Electric’s headquarters in France

Schneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management, unveiled the 12 teams that qualified for the finals of Go Green in the City 2014 global student challenge organized by the Group. The finalists were selected from among the Top 100 teams that qualified for the semi-finals, by a jury composed of Schneider Electric business leaders. As in previous years, Go Green in the City candidates must present a case study focusing on energy solutions for cities. Working in teams of two, with at least one woman on the team, students will devise viable solutions for energy management sectors critical to cities, such as: home, university, retail, water and hospital.

The Top 12 teams, coming from Brazil, Canada, China-Hong Kong, Egypt, France, India, Japan, New Zealand, Russian Federation, Turkey, United States and Vietnam, were evaluated, on the basis of a synopsis and a video business case. The criteria for this evaluation include the holistic overview of the problem, the innovation of the idea, the economic impact of developing and using the suggested solution and it’s efficiency of usage for all key stakeholders.

The 12 teams have been invited to Schneider Electric’s headquarters in Rueil-Malmaison, France, from June 17th to 21st to compete in the finals. During the trip, the finalists will visit facilities of the Group, network with Schneider Electric employees and attend career-building workshops. The students will also have the opportunity to have a visit of “La Cité du Soleil”, an energy-efficient village built for the Solar Decathlon , a student competition in Versailles (France) to be held from June 28th to July 14th and sponsored by Schneider Electric. The teams will continue to work with their Schneider Electric mentor to finalize their case study, which they will present on June 19th to a jury composed of Schneider Electric senior management.

The winning team of Go Green in the City 2014 will travel the world VIP-style with Schneider Electric, visiting facilities and networking with employees and senior management. The two laureates will also be offered a professional opportunity with Schneider Electric.
