Schneider Electric appoints Hope Mashele as Eco Business director for southern Africa

Specialist in energy management, Schneider Electric, is pleased to announce that Hope Mashele has joined the company as director of Eco Business for its southern African operation. Mashele’s professional credentials and experience within the public and private sector provide him with the skills to address profitable eco activities in both the business-to-business and business-to-consumer markets within the southern African region.

His focus will be on adapting the organisation’s global Eco Business strategy to each southern African country of operation, ensuring that it is implemented accordingly and delivers on set objectives. Given that Schneider Electric’s Eco Business connects with all other business units within the organisation, Mashele is also tasked with fostering and coordinating teams from across the business to fulfill operational projects and targets. Prior to joining Schneider Electric South Africa, he managed large building portfolio clients such as Telkom/ TFMC and ABSA/ Barclays Africa, with stints as National Energy and Engineering Manager, ensuring that all old and new developments comply with world-classengineering design protocols including high-energy efficiency and comprehensive energy management.

Mashele has also served on various boards including the Green Building Council of South Africa and the South African Association of Energy Efficiency , giving input on governance and strategic management issues. In addition, he has worked as a strategic advisor, consultant for the Department of Environmental Affairs at the COP17/ CMP, and as a visiting lecturer for Wits University on Leadership in Sustainable Design amongst others, gaining expertise in successful dealings and interactions with a variety of high-level stakeholders from business, government and scientific/ technical environments.
Mashele holds a BSc Electrical Engineering degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and is accredited by the Engineering Council of South Africa as a professional engineer. He is also a Certified Energy Manager and a Certified Measurement and VerificationProfessional, accreditations he received from the international Association Energy Engineers, and is a senior member of the SA Institute of Electrical Engineers.
