Sa's New City Domains Now Cost As Little As Co.Za

Company Announcement - South Africa's recently-launched dotJoburg (".joburg"), dotCapeTown (".capetown") and dotDurban (".durban") domain names now cost as little as domains within the well-established co.za domain name system. There are now 11 300 domains registered that reflect the names of South Africa's three major metropolitan cities compared to over one million co.za domains.
According to Wayne Diamond, Managing Director of Domains.co.za, rapid take-up by local and overseas individuals and organisations interested in securing a slice of valuable South African web real estate has resulted in economies of scale. "As a spring promotion, Domains.co.za, in conjunction with the registry, is able to offer dotJoburg, dotCape Town and dotDurban domain names, launched in mid-2014, at the same price as domains within the 20 year-old co.za domain name space," said Mr Diamond. He adds that it took several years for the number of registered co.za domains to reach the 450 mark in 1995.
"We're hopeful that reduced dotJoburg, dotCapeTown and dotDurban pricing will help take the number of registered SA city domain names right up and over the 20 000 milestone," Mr Diamond says.
For the month of September 2015, Domains.co.za will offer .Joburg, .Durban & .Capetown domain name registration at the same rate as co.za domains which is currently R75.00. In addition, should Domains.co.za clients order a Web Hosting package or Website Builder package during the month of September, Domains.co.za will include any one of the following domains at no charge: .joburg, .durban, .capetown, .co.za, .web.za, .org.za, net.za
Domains.co.za is a leading registrar of .ZA domain names such as .co.za, dotJoburg (".joburg", dotCapeTown (".capetown") and dotDurban (".durban"), and South Africa's only operational ICANN-accredited registrar. The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names & Numbers is the administrator of the worldwide web.
