The Santos GLNG project is a pioneering venture to convert coal seam gas (CSG) to LNG for export to global markets.
It includes the development of CSG resources in the Bowen and Surat basins, in south-east Queensland; the construction of a 420 km underground gas transmission pipeline to Gladstone; and two LNG trains, with a combined nameplate capacity of 7.8-million tonnes a year, on Curtis Island.

Duration
The first LNG was delivered in 2015 and it is expected that the LNG plant will reach plateau production in 2016 and maintain this for more than 20 years.
Latest Developments
Santos has started producing LNG at the second unit of the GLNG JV project, marking the successful delivery of the $18.5-billion two-train project.
Santos MD and CEO Kevin Gallagher has described the start-up of Train 2 as a milestone for the GLNG project, which has already produced more than two-million tonnes of LNG and shipped 32 cargoes.
First LNG production from Train 1 started in September 2015, with the first GLNG export cargo having been shipped in October.
Key Contracts and Suppliers
Fluor Corporation (engineering, procurement and construction services for upstream facilities); Saipem (construction of the gas transmission pipeline); Bechtel (construction of the LNG plant); and Theiss (tunnel).
