Sangqu to join Implats as executive director
JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – JSE-listed Impala Platinum (Implats) on Friday announced the appointment of former Xstrata South Africa executive director Andile Sangqu as sustainability and risk group executive, with effect from March 1.
Sangqu would report directly to Implats CEO Terence Goodlace and would assume responsibility for leading the company’s corporate social investment programmes, environmental matters, risk management, certain relationships with governments and regulatory bodies and sustainability functions.
He would also serve as a member of the executive committee and represent the company on a number of its operational boards.
In addition to his BCompt Honours degree, Sangqu has completed an executive development programme at Wits Business School, a Master’s degree in business leadership at the University of South Africa and an advanced management programme at INSEAD.
Sangqu had previously also held board positions at Metropolitan Holdings and Pioneer Foods.
