The Chairman of the Greater Accra Association of Ghana Industries, Mr Tsonam Cleanse Akpeloo invited South African businesses to take advantage of trade and investment opportunities that are available in the Ghanaian agricultural sector.
Akpeloo expressed this view while he was visiting the South African Pavilion at the Ghana International Trade Fair where the Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) funded twenty firms to showcase their products and services.
Akpeloo said agriculture was one sector that is teeming with an abundance of investment and trade opportunities that foreign companies can take advantage of and explore in partnership with local businesspeople.
“The government of Ghana is in the process of implementing the One District One Factory project which encourages people to go into agriculture and agro-processing. Opportunities for people who are keen in the value-chain of agriculture and agro-processing in Ghana are abound,” said Akpeloo.
He added that his Association was committed to offering support to the South African companies to do business in Ghana, mostly through the formation of partnerships.
“South Africa has always been Ghana’s biggest friend politically and in business. Establishing viable partnerships, trading with each other and investing in each other’s economies will benefit both countries as employment opportunities will be created and economic growth will be boosted,” stressed Akpeloo.
The popular Ghana International Trade Fair started on Wednesday, 28 February and will conclude tomorrow.
