South Africa has been shortlisted by The European Outsourcing Association (EOA) for the 2015 Offshoring Destination of the Year award, competing against Bulgaria and Latvia.

Now in its sixth year, the EOA Awards recognised and celebrated the efforts of companies that demonstrated best practice in the European business process outsourcing market.

“We’ve had a variety of entrants for the EOA Awards this year, a fantastic combination of organisations demonstrating the best and brightest that European outsourcing has to offer.

“From the submissions received it is clear that buyers and suppliers are partnering to deliver innovation, transformation and significant value-add results. We are also seeing a number of countries across the continent making great strides as outsourcing locations, now competing with more established offshore destinations,” National Outsourcing Association CEO Kerry Hallard said.

The award winners would be announced in Lisbon on October 8.

Companies with a large European presence, currently outsourcing their customer service work to South Africa, included Amazon, Asda, Barclays, BP, British Gas, Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa, 02 and Shell.

“South Africa is known as a world-class customer service destination for English-based interactions, but increasingly we are seeing several European countries using South Africa to service their customers in French, Dutch, German, Spanish and Portuguese,” said Business Process Enabling South Africa CEO Tebogo Molapisane.
