RS Components, the trading brand of Electrocomponents plc, the global distributor for engineers, has recently granted the Global Supplier Award for Innovation to Barth Elektronik. In particular, the distributor highlighted the success of Barth’s STG series of mini-PLCs.
With its mini-PLC series, Barth Elektronik was able to sell more than a thousand PLCs through the RS websites in 26 markets in only a few months. “Considering that Barth wasn’t an established global brand, it just shows how partnering with RS can result in an innovative product selling everywhere,” highlights Hermann Baudry, Senior Global Category Manager - Automation & Control - Process Control Product and Supplier Management at RS.
The mini-PLCs stand out due to their small size and robust design. Furthermore, a high level of user-friendliness is guaranteed by the graphical programming software miCon-L, which contributes to its great success. Targeting machine and panel builders and opening up the possibilities for controlling new types of industrial applications, the Barth mini-PLCs can be battery powered and allow engineers to control small applications such as stand-alone machines or mobile applications. In addition, the PLCs can be directly integrated into machines, offering the benefits of reduced wiring.
The whole team at the small manufacturer is very excited about the success. “With this award, RS confirms that our focus on innovation and attention to manufacturing quality has paid off,” says Daniel Barth, General Manager of Barth Elektronik GmbH.
Since 1993 Barth Elektronik has developed and manufactured Barth assemblies, devices and systems for the automotive and engineering industry, for building automation as well as for controlling industrial diesel engines. The expansion of its operations is in the planning phase.
