The Rolls Royce Black Badge Wraith

The Rolls Royce Black Badge Ghost
Inside the Rolls Royce Black Badge Ghost edition. The Black Badge cabin offers a darker interpretation of luxury. The centrepiece of the cabin is an aerospace-grade aluminium-threaded carbon fibre composite surfacing – material often seen on the surfaces of stealth aircraft. To create this material, threads of aircraft grade aluminium – 0.014 mm in diameter – are woven together before being bonded with carbon fibre.

Morgan’s EV3 is a three-wheel electric vehicle, weighing less than 500 kg, with a range of 240 km. It takes about nine seconds to reach 100 km/h. The vehicle takes its inspiration from 1930s aeroengine ace cars, classic motorcycles and 1950s fantasy automatons. The UK’s Morgan Motor Company builds cars by hand from ash wood, aluminium and leather. There are Morgan dealers in Gauteng and the Eastern Cape.
Toyota’s Concept High Rider (c-HR) gives the Japanese manufacturer a new presence in the popular cross-over market. Being a Toyota it is most likely to also gain favour in South Africa, when it makes its debut in early 2017.
The Toyota Kikai celebrates the ‘appeal of the machine’, says the Japanese manufacturer. The concept car reveals the machinery normally hidden beneath the bodywork.

Maserati unveiled the first sports-utility vehicle in its hundred-year history at Geneva: the Levante. As with many Maseratis from the past, the new car’s name is inspired by a wind: the Levante is a warm Mediterranean wind that can change from a light breeze to a natural force in an instant. Market launch is planned for this spring in Europe, to be followed by the rest of the world.

The eighty-sixth Geneva International Motor Show is set to end this weekend. It produced, as always, an impressive unveiling of exotic cars, aimed at those with deep pockets. However, some manufacturers have also used the Swiss platform to introduce a number of mainstream models, some of which should find their way to South Africa in the near future. Engineering News Online attended the show as the guest of BMW South Africa. Here are a few highlights of the event.
