Company Announcement - As Eskom battles with a shortage of generation capacity and schedules rolling blackouts across South Africa, ministers and energy experts from around the globe are preparing to attend the 7th annual Africa Energy Indaba, the continent’s premier energy event which brings together global energy professionals to deliberate Africa’s energy future.

As the Africa regional event of the World Energy Council, the Council’s Year of Africa programme will kick off at the Africa Energy Indaba from Tuesday 17 to Wednesday, 18 February at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa.
African Energy Ministers and over 120 speakers have confirmed their attendance. South Africa’s Energy and Deputy Energy Ministers will also be presenting keynote speeches.

“Africa as a continent, is developing strategies to increase energy capacity, improve the energy mix and work together to create cross-border energy projects that will help to build a sustainable, accessible energy industry and alleviate the current energy crisis. With this in mind, the Africa Energy Indaba 2015 conference and exhibition programme has been designed to bring together international and continental experts to share their insights and solutions to Africa’s energy crisis, while simultaneously exploring the vast energy development and investment opportunities on offer in Africa,” says Brian Statham, Africa Energy Indaba steering committee chairperson.  The South African energy situation will receive a lot of attention and discussions will explore solutions to the challenges South Africa and many other African countries face with continued rolling blackouts.

Topics for discussion are determined by the Indaba’s steering committee which is made up of energy industry experts and global energy players, who meet throughout the year to plan and discuss the topics that will be debated at the Johannesburg event.
Delegates come from across the continent to attend what has become known as the business networking forum of choice for energy industry players on the continent,” says Liz Hart, Managing Director of Siyenza, the conference organisers.  "Energy is the number one issue facing us all at the moment and the Indaba will debate and explore alternative energy sources available that can provide short and long-term solutions to the immense challenge Africans currently face with a lack of supply and increased demand."
