Resin bonded filters for high viscosity applications
A new range of resin bonded filters has been introduced for use in aggressive chemical applications.
Available in a range of micron sizes, from 1 μm to 150 μm, the grooved cartridge filters are said to be suitable for clarification and removal of gels and deformable agglomerates in applications such as organic chemicals, process water, coolants and adhesives.
The rigid phenolic resin structure aims to allow filters to withstand high viscosities and temperatures without deformation or collapse of the pores. This is to prevent the off-loading of captured particles, as the differential pressure rises across the filter. The castellated outer surface increases the effective surface area, thereby lowering the differential pressure and increasing the dirt-holding capacity of the filter.
Features and benefits include:
- Graded pore density: Aims to provide consistent filtration with lower differential pressure drop across the cartridge to ensure longer filter life.
- Castellated outer surface: An increased surface area for greater dirt-holding capacity.
- Resin bonded: The rigid structure aims to prevent off-loading of contaminant during pressure surges and high differential pressure.
- Broad chemical compatibility: Makes the filter suitable for aggressive chemical applications.
- Lower disposable costs: The coreless filter does not contain plastics or metals and can be crushed or shredded.
- Broad range of micron sizes: The filter is suitable for clarification and removal of gels and deformable agglomerates.
Potential applications:
- Organic chemicals
- Process water
- Inks and paints (excluding electrophoretic paints)
- Emulsions
- Adhesives
- Lacquers and varnishes
- Epoxy resins and waxes
- Plasticisers
- Coolants, machine oils and manufacturing fluids
- Fertilisers and pesticides
Bonfil resin bonded filters are manufactured and supplied by the Porvair Filtration Group.
