Transnet in partnership with its sponsors Roche and Colgate-Palmolive have launched the R82-million Phelophepa II health train to provide quality healthcare to more rural people. Dimakatso Motau reports.

Transnet CE Brian Molefe explained that as part of the company’s aim to intensify its corporate social responsibility initiatives, it has launched the Phelophepa II health train, which is technologically advanced.
The second train will run concurrently with the first train and reach about 370 000 patients a year starting from 2013. The Phelophepa I train is currently undergoing a 12-month refurbishment and an upgrade. The two trains will travel in different directions and target four provinces each except the Gauteng province.
