PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Gold miner Ramelius Resources has announced MD Ian Gordon would step down from his position in June, and that COO Mark Zaptner would replace him.

Gordon joined Ramelius in 2007, and was appointed CEO in 2009 and MD in 2010.

He oversaw the successful development and mining of the flagship Wattle Dam underground mine, in Western Australia, until the project’s closure in 2013, and the acquisition and development of the Mount Magnet gold project.

He was also instrumental in the acquisition of the Coogee gold project.

Gordon would remain on as a nonexecutive director until the 2014 annual general meeting, scheduled for later this year.
