The Peninsula School Feeding Association (PSFA) officially announces that Western Cape Premier, Helen Zille will fire the starter’s gun for the 10km walk at the 47th PSFA Blisters for Bread Charity Family Fun Walk that will be taking place at the Green Point cricket club on Saturday 24th August 2014. The Premier will also participate the 5km walk.

Entries for the 5km or 10km walk can be made online or downloaded at www.psfa.org.za. Entry forms are also available at selected Super Spar’s and Sportsman’s Warehouse outlets in Cape Town. The entry fee is R50, which will feed 25 hungry school children for an entire day. Entries are now open and are limited to 12 000 walkers. Online entries close on the 17th August and physical entry forms need to be handed in by the 9th of August.

This year, the school that submits the most combined entries will win a R5 000 cash prize and the opportunity to select and feed an underprivileged school for a year, sponsored by PSFA and Lucky Star. We urge schools to include this drive as part of their civics campaigns/programmes. PSFA challenges all schools to join them in the fight against hunger.

ShoOops

The highly acclaimed ShoOops team, who recently cycled from Cape Town to Pietermaritzburg and then completed the Comrades marathon in honour of Phil Masterton-Smith, have confirmed that they will walk the 10km Blisters for Bread backwards to highlight the plight of hunger in South African schools.
