Name and Location
Power island project, Louisiana, US.

Client
Cleco Corporation.

Project Description
The project involves the construction of an environment-friendly power island with a capacity of about 50 MWe.

The power island will take advantage of an existing heat source to create power without any additional greenhouse-gas emissions.

The heat, provided to Cleco by a third-party supplier, is generated from the production of carbon black, used in items such as tyres and industrial rubber products.

This waste heat will be used to produce steam, which will, in turn, create electricity that can be sold and sent to the grid.

Duration
Commercial operation of the power plant is expected in 2018.

Latest Developments
Amec Foster Wheeler has been awarded a contract to design and supply a complete power island for Cleco.
