Location
The proposed project will occupy about 5 400 ha, from Port Paterson in the north to Winninowie in the south, and spanning Highway One in Port Augusta, in South Australia.

Project Description
Stage 1 of the project incorporates wind turbines and solar photovoltaic (PV) modules, with a total generation capacity of up to 375 MW.
It will produce enough energy to power about 154 000 South Australian households.
The project will include:
• up to 59 wind turbines, with a maximum tip height of 150 m;
• up to 59 wind turbine transformers;
• about 1.6-million solar modules measuring about 1.2 m × 0.8 m each;
• up to 150 solar PV inverter/transformer stations;
• an electrical export connection to Davenport substation;
• one main substation housing switchgear, transformers, offices, welfare facilities and a workshop;
• two collector substations for the eastern and western sites;
• three solar PV interconnector substations containing switchgear and transformers;
• about 8 km of overhead 132 kV electrical connections (east site to main substation);
• up to 59 hard standing areas for wind turbine construction;
• about 45 km of wind farm site tracks;
• about 40 km of solar PV site tracks;
• about 100 km of underground 33 kV cabling to link the wind turbines;
• up to five lattice-type meteorological masts of up to 92 m;
• electrical cabling (linking solar arrays);
• security fencing about 2.4 m high, around the solar PV sites;
• five access locations from the public highway; and
• a viewing platform and visitor information facility.
The main temporary components of the project will include:
• five temporary construction compounds, including laydown areas;
• about five borrow pits for track material;
• two concrete batching plants; and
• four temporary meteorological masts of up to 92 m.
The predicted life of the project is about 25 years, after which time the wind and solar infrastructure will either be removed and the site reinstated or the site refurbished with new equipment.

Jobs to Be Created
About 250 temporary jobs – peaking at about 600 – are expected to be created. When fully operational, the project is expected to create an estimated 15 to 20 permanent jobs.
