Pinnacle Africa, one of Southern Africa’s largest ICT distributors, unveils the most powerful desktop PC available to consumers and announces immediate availability of Intel’s new Haswell-E processors together with the X99 motherboards and DDR4 memory needed to support the new Intel chipset.

Pinnacle Africa is pleased to confirm immediate availability of the new Intel Core i7 Haswell-E high-end desktop microprocessor range, including the flagship Core i7-5960X Extreme Edition. This is the most powerful desktop processor available on the market and targets high-performance enthusiasts and overclockers. The Core i7-5960X Extreme Edition is the world’s first 8-core desktop processor. In addition to the Extreme Edition processor, the new Core i7 line-up includes the Core i7-5930K and Core i7-5820K, all built on the 22nm Haswell architecture giving improved IPC performance at power ratings similar to previous generation processors due to improved power efficiency of the Haswell microarchitecture. These CPUs are the first desktop processors supporting DDR4-2133 MHz memory on Intel’s new X99 chipset.

In addition to the immediate availability of the new Intel Core i7 line-up, Pinnacle Africa is also pleased to announce availability of DDR4 memory and X99 motherboards essential for building a computer on the new Intel platform. Pinnacle Africa has also built the first PC in Africa using these new commercially available components. Performance is exceptional, with pure computation power rivalling server-based platforms and achieving a Cinebench R15 benchmark of 1703 at 3.75 GHz, putting it 33% ahead of the next fastest system tested.

“We are extremely proud to be the first distributor in Africa to offer the new Haswell-E processor range from Intel together with the DDR4 memory and X99 motherboards, and to demonstrate a PC built with these components on the same day Intel officially announced the Core i7 Haswell-E platform,” said Pinnacle Africa’s Managing Director, Tim Humphreys-Davies. “This reinforces our leadership in the component and PC distribution market and allows us to offer the very latest technology to our customers. Haswell-E will become the platform of choice for all serious gamers and other high-performance user that demand the very best performance in a desktop PC.” Pinnacle Africa was appointed an official distributor of Intel products in January 2014.
