Company Announcement - THE Braamfontein precinct is fast becoming one of Johannesburg’s favourite social destinations with thousands of people flocking to the many venues available in the area almost every night. Adding to the venues, Orion Group’s Devonshire Hotel recently celebrated a highly successful re-launch of their Piano Bar-a classy destination within the establishment which serves everything opulent such as aged whiskeys and cognacs to the more discerning guest and patron.  Esteemed guests were present at this invite only event which included some of the country’s renowned media, government representative as well as business movers and shakers.

Newly appointed General Manager for the Devonshire Hotel Francois Van Wyk said he was taken aback by the Braamfontein area, stating that it has vastly improved since his last visit. “Braamfontein is really such a cool place to be. There is an event or a party in the area almost every day and you can see the young and the old alike, partying up a storm even on a Monday! It is great to see that this area is being upgraded and this really means only good things for businesses in the area. Improved infrastructure, safety and venues will insure that more people will venture into the city and this will create more jobs and business opportunities,” he said.

The Devonshire Hotel went through an aesthetic upgrade recently which included the Piano Bar. The establishment maintains its classic feel with an added modern touch that will ensure that every taste is catered for. Genevieve Jones, the Procurement Officer for Orion Hotels said an update was needed. “Along with the lovely Piano Bar, the American Diner 34 on Melle as well as the upcoming Devonshire Arms have also been updated and we are excited to introduce them to the public. I would like to thank all who made the event possible especially the Volkandi crew, DGB, Socks, Kelvin and Jarlene Joel and the Johannesburg Culinary and Pastry School,” she added. Melanie Du Buis of 7de Laan fame was also present on the evening and she had the chance to experience Braamfontein like never before. “It is so cool to venture out into the CBD and partake in these fun activities with family and friends. I would like to thank Genevieve Jones and the Orion Hotels team for inviting me tonight,” she said.

The urban upliftment projects throughout the CBD means that more funds are allocated to refurbish once derelict areas of the city. At this rate, the Johannesburg CBD will be South Africa’s very own New York City.
