Parker Hannifin Sales Company South Africa sponsors rally driver in the Classic National Rally Championship

Parker Hannifin Sales Company South Africa (PHSCSA) has partnered with race car driver, Nico Nienaber, for a one year partnership as one of his major sponsors.  This is the first time PHSCSA and Nico Nienaber has joined forces. 

“I’m very excited to partner with a multi international engineering company such as Parker Hannifin. I’m really looking forward to working with them on a professionally, and present the Parker brand on a National level in the new Classic National Rally Championship for all Pre’85 cars” said Nico Nienaber.

The vehicle is branded with the official Parker 100th Centennial birthday graphics to celebrate this milestone for Parker. For 100 years, the company has engineered the success of its customers in a wide range of diversified industrial, mining and factory automation markets.

PHSCSA general manager, Bart Schoevaerts said, “we are proud to sponsor Nico in his field of racing and look forward to his upcoming race results.”

Nico’s racing career started 17 years ago, competing on Regional and National levels. Nico has won numerous classes throughout his career, top ten overall finishing record including overall wins. Nico’s short term goal is to become the national Classic Rally champion of South Africa.

The 2017 Championship will offer a high level of competition, close rallying, entertainment and a new level of social media marketing that will not disappoint.

The Classic Rally of South Africa 2017 Championship consists of 7 major events for the year.

  • 10/11 March KZN Scottburgh
  • 21/22 April Mpumalanga Sabie
  • 19/20 May Mpumalanga Secunda
  • 21/22 July Eastern Cape Port Elizabeth
  • 18/19 August Gauteng Bronkhorspruit
  • 22/23 September Western Cape Caledon
  • 20/21 October Free State Welkom

Nico Nienaber competed in a 1982 Toyota Corolla at the recent York rally in the Sabie-Graskop plantation this weekend, finishing with competitive stage times over very rough terrains. The team were happy with the car and positive to start after setting their consistent pace on Friday. Their goal was to push for Class honours on Saturday but their plan got halted in stage 10 when they had an electrical component fail on their car and they had to withdraw from the event.

Nico and the team are already looking forward to the next event taking place in Secunda, Mpumalanga on the 19 and 20 May 2017.
