Project Description
The project involves the supply of an integrated system to equip metro Line 2, in Panama.

Line 2 will be 21 km long and includes 16 stations. The elevated line will run from San Miguelito to Nuevo Tocumen and will be able to carry up to 40 000 passengers an hour in each direction.

Line 2 will run 22 km, have 16 stations and connect to the first line.

With the new line, the Panama metro network will span 37 km.

Value
The project is estimated at $2.2-billion.

Duration
The new line is expected to start in 2019.

Latest Developments
Alstom, the leader of a consortium comprising CIM, Sofratesa, Thales and TSO, has been awarded by a contract to supply an integrated system to equip metro Line 2.

Alstom will supply an integrated metro system, which includes 21 Metropolis trainsets and traction substations.

The Metropolis trainsets will be produced in Santa Perpetua factory, in Spain, where the trainsets for Line 1 were manufactured.

Alstom’s share of the contract amounts to an estimated €300-million.
