This innovative single operator storage and transportation system integrates two light plastic sleeves into a polypropylene bulk bag, replacing the conventional wooden pallet with a totally recyclable hygienic design.
“Many companies have made the change to the single operator Tellap system because of increased safety for workers,” says Tellap South Africa manager Clinton van den Berg. “Tellap’s palletless bulk bags’ design complies with international requirements, including the new ISPM-15 regulations, which stipu-late the mandatory treatment of solid timber packing and dunnage, in order to reduce the risk of pest or disease entry into foreign countries.
“Tellap bags have also passed rigorous independent testing and meet stringent performance requirements for nonhazardous goods contained in a flexible intermediate bulk container. Certification from global specialist in packaging component testing TEN-E Packaging Services, significantly enhances the credibility of Tellap bags.”
Tellap palletless bags, which are ideal for packaging chemicals, minerals, pharmaceuticals, agricultural seeds and grains, as well as food commodities and ingredients, offer users substantial cost savings. They also reduce ongoing logistics costs by allowing for greater product volumes to be carried.
A regular pallet can weigh over 30 kg, while two Tellap bags, including sleeves, weigh only 3 kg. The bags are rack compliant, offering improved space use in warehouses, rail cars and trucks. Being raised from the base, they can be safely loaded and unloaded by one forklift operator and, depending on local laws, can be stacked three-high in a container or four-high in a warehouse.
The Tellap system’s specialised protective tine guards reduce the chance of damage by allowing standard forklifts to hoist bags securely from their base sleeves or top loops. The cube shape of these bags increases safety, efficiency and stability. Another important feature is that Tellap bags ensure a clean and safe environment – an important advantage in packaging, transport and storage.
Tellap palletless bulk bags recently received patent approval from authorities in South Africa, Europe, New Zealand and the USA.
