Paint colour range revealed
Plascon has announced its 'Colour Combination’ selection of paint colours for 2024.
The company says it has taken inspiration from nature’s aquatic blue colours which it asserts help alleviate stress and invigorate living and work spaces.
Plascon notes that research has found that shades of blue elevate mood and improve feelings of rejuvenation. It says the the colour selection signifies the restorative properties of water to reflect society’s concerns with physical and mental health and the wellbeing of the planet, noting that the blue hues inspire a sense of calm and optimism.
The company states that it was the first coatings company in South Africa to present a Colour Combination of the Year, featuring three colours instead of a single colour. For three consecutive years, Plascon has launched its Colour Combinations in a 60-30-10 ratio, which is regarded as the industry-standard design approach of 60% of a room being painted in a dominant colour, 30% in a secondary colour and 10% in an accent colour.
The three colours in the range include Crystal-clear Caribbean Sea, code G7-A1-2 which is the colour used in the largest percentage in the design ratio. The colour’s pairing with the other two tones, namely North Beach (B4-B1-1) at 30% and Aqua Pura (G7-C2-2) at 10% completes the combination of aquatic blues.
Crystal-clear Caribbean Sea is described as a warm turquoise with a green undertone that is invigorating and energising. North Beach is described as a bold and saturated azure that is deep without being too cool, while Aqua Pura is said to be a gently shaded, pale blue-green colour.
