Project Description
The project involves the construction of the OL3 nuclear power plant unit, which will include an EPR adjacent to the existing OL1 and OL2 units.

OL3 will have an output of about 1 600 MW and once operating at full capacity, will produce about 13 TWh/y of electricity and meet about 14% of Finland's electricity demand.

OL3 started electricity production on March 12, 2022, which significantly increases domestic electricity production.

During the expected four-month test-production phase, the OL3 plant unit’s power output will be gradually increased to 1 600 MW. This output is considerable; about 3 TWh to 4 TWh during the test production phase, which corresponds with about 10% of Finland’s electricity demand. The power output varies considerably during test production.
