Occupational risk management services provider MicroMega Holdings subsidiary Nosa held its fifty-third yearly occupational risk management conference and exhibition, Noshcon 2014, in KwaZulu-Natal last month, an event which culminated in the Noscar awards.

The three-day conference brought together more than 500 delegates, industry speakers and experts, as well as organisations and individuals who were awarded top honours at the Noscar awards for their dedication to maintaining the highest levels of excellence in their occupational risk management performance.

Risk management professionals and practi-tioners were invited to present findings of the latest research and innovations, as well as provide practical solutions for the general problems faced by companies that are involved in risk management products and services.

Nosa CEO Duncan Carlisle noted at the awards evening that the cornerstone of Nosa’s success had been the Noshcon awards, which honoured the contributions of companies and individuals in the field of occupational risk. He added that it was an important tradition on which the company continued to build.

“The awards ensure that health and safety departments in companies are recognised for the effort and energy they put into protecting and saving the lives of their employees. This is an opportunity for the winners to get the recognition they deserve,” he stated.

Construction materials group AfriSam received its thirty-second Noscar award, while local syn-thetic rubber manufacturer Karbochem received its thirtieth Noscar award.

Industrial gases and chemicals supplier Air Products’ head office received its eighth platinum Noscar, while its facility in Springs, Gauteng, received its fourth platinum Noscar.

Air Products’ facility in Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal, received its first platinum Noscar at this year’s awards.

Other winners included South African beverages producer Amalgamated Beverage Industries, JSE-listed Barloworld Logistics, some of State-owned power utility Eskom’s power stations and sugar producers Illovo Sugar and Tongaat Hulett.

Nosa also expanded its suite of products at Noshcon 2014 by launching the Supplier Vetting System, which is a software solution that manages supply chain risk.

Nosa MD Justin Hobday said Nosa was continuously enhancing its value proposition while assisting the development of the industry.

MicroMega Holdings CEO Greg Morris said Nosa succeeded in conveying the importance of its services to directors and board members of companies and in generating interaction and understanding of occupational health and safety risk management at management level.
