Sensor specialist Countapulse Controls has launched the new Leuze 318B series photoelectric sensor with the integrated and patented Leuze omni-mount, which it says will limit costs associated with fine tuning sensors.
This innovative mounting mechanism, which is standard on the Leuze 318B series, enables easy fine adjustment of the sensor to ensure accurate sensing and reliable performance, even in the most difficult sensing applications.
Specially developed mounting nuts on the Leuze omni-mount enables the sensor to be mounted at a variety of alignment angles, about 8º in every direction. By using this inno- vative mounting, it is possible to position the sensor extremely close to the material or goods being monitored.
The Leuze 318B series photoelectric sensor has two complementary switching outputs and can be used in light and dark switching operations. This sensing device offers several other major advantages, including highly visible yellow and green status displays for easy operation and a visible Bright Vision light spot, which improves visibility for accurate alignment.
It is equipped with Leuze’s A2LS technology, which actively suppresses extraneous light, making the photoelectric sensor less susceptible to ambient and stray light, further increasing its reliability.
The sensor’s robust plastic housing pro- vides reliable use in rough industrial environments, and the Leuze 318B series is capable of operating in temperature ranging from –40 ºC to 60 ºC.
The Leuze 318B series offers highly accurate sensing and, with its mounting mechanism, gives users the ability to achieve fine adjustment at no extra cost.
Meanwhile, Countapulse Controls, which is also the local supplier of rail transport technology developer Deuta Werke products, offers solutions to make new technologies easier to control and, therefore, safer for the rail sector.
Countapulse Controls MD Gerry Bryant says technological progress is happening at a faster pace than ever before and technologies that were unimaginable just a few years ago are taken completely for granted in industry today.
“These contemporary achievements have not only demanded more complexity, but are also making increased demands on people and machines to control the technologies. Very often, entire industrial processes and, frequently, human lives depend on correct functioning,” he says.
Product offerings range from simple indicators to integrated displays, from basic pick-up sensors to contactless radar sensors and recorders to speed measurement and processing systems.
High-end technologies, supported by quali- fied and certified robustness and reliability, meet the extreme requirements of modern industry, while the maximum availability of product and system solutions caters to the specific needs of passengers and drivers, states Countapulse Controls.
The durable, long-lasting Deuta products are supported by an obsolescence roadmap that ensures they remain available over the entire service life of a railway vehicle. Greater efficiency is achieved by reducing the number of interfaces in manufacturing and service procedures.
“When it comes to railway safety, the human factor plays an important role. Decisions are often made based on information provided on thin-film transistor displays. If process factors are displayed incorrectly, costly malfunctions or, in worst-case scenarios, even accidents are inevitable,” says Bryant.
Deuta says its latest innovation, IconTrust, which has an extended SelecTrust function, is the only system that ensures that correct values are also correctly displayed.
Beyond the railway sector, this is also a ground-breaking solution for sectors such as plant and machine construction, the chemicals and pharmaceuticals industries, the energy sector, as well as the medical technology, shipbuilding, aviation, vehicle construction and special-purpose vehicle sectors.
The rail transport technology provider’s displays are used worldwide in all climate zones and can withstand the toughest environmental conditions, while its component selection is tailored to specific applications and environmental conditions. All parts and components are thoroughly tested to ensure their long-term availability and suitability.
The provider’s products come with process-orientated verification at a high formal level. The standard Deuta development process includes the precise capture of safety requirements upon which a safety plan is developed. The subsequent intelligent architecture speci- fication and a high level of expert evaluation reduce product development time.
Deuta has qualified for the International Railway Industry Standard, which is based on ISO 9001:2008, extended to include railway specific requirements. It also incorporates quality assurance and compliance with relevant environmental protection requirements in accordance with ISO 14001:2004.
