Much credit must go to Energy Minister Jeff Radebe and Independent Power Producer Office head Karen Breytenbach for ensuring that the agreements for 27 long-delayed renewable-energy projects were eventually signed earlier this month. They pushed ahead despite fresh sniping from those who believe, unfairly, the projects are a threat to jobs and transformation. That said, future bid windows will have to be far more sensitive to both issues if the snipers are going to hold their fire.
