The country’s Deputy President, including the 35 new ministers, were sworn in today.

In a ceremony conducted at the Presidential Guesthouse, the new Cabinet members took an oath to serve the country.

The proceedings got underway with President Jacob Zuma swearing in his Deputy Cyril Ramaphosa.

"I will be a true and faithful councillor and discharge my duties to the best of my best of my ability and devote myself to the work of the Republic of South Africa," the new Deputy President declared.

The two then shared a warm handshake before taking up their seats next to each other for the swearing in of their Cabinet.

Thereafter, each of the new leaders of the 2014 incoming administration were affirmed by Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng, who was accompanied by Deputy Chief Justice Dikgang Moseneke, Justice Sisi Khampepe and Judge President Monica Leeuw.

The 35 ministers took the oath to perform their duties conscientiously and to the best of their abilities, with the secrecy and confidentiality required.

They also vowed to be faithful to the Republic and to obey, observe, uphold and maintain the Constitution and laws of the country.

The mood at the guesthouse was jovial and relaxed, despite the magnitude of the affair.

The new ministers were in good spirits as some shook hands and hugged each other.
Last night, the President announced his Cabinet, which includes a good dose of new blood as well as some familiar faces.
