Namibia's national power utility, the Namibia Power Corporation (NamPower) is planning to build a new 10-MW diesel-powered electricity generation power station at a cost of N$250-million near its existing Paratus diesel-generator power station in Walvis Bay.
The company has issued a tender for a turnkey engineering, procurement and construction contractor for its proposed Anixas diesel-generator power station.
The contract would involve: the design and engineering, environmental management planning, procurement, manufacturing, factory testing, supply and delivery, installation, training, commissioning and site acceptance testing of a diesel generator power station, NamPower stated in a tender document.
NamPower had identified a 20 000-m2 site for the project, including space for a further possible 40-MW expansion in capacity, in future.
The generating units would have to have multiple fuel capabilities, including diesel, heavy fuel oil and vegetable fuels, without compromising the efficiency or maintenance regime of the plant, NamPower stated.
The contractors would be expected to complete the project within 12 months after the tender was awarded.
NamPower would hold a compulsory clarification meeting at the Paratus power station on April 6 at 11:00 to discuss the tender and contract with potential contractors.
Potential contractors would be selected from those companies that attended the meeting and submitted completed tenders, if the tender requirements were met.
NamPower would evaluate the tenders in terms of financial, legal, technical, management expertise, project references, quality assurance, and other criteria.
The deadline for submission was 12:00 on June 12.
