Mynydd y Gwair Wind Farm project.

Location
The proposed wind farm is located on common land in South Wales, within the administrative boundary of the City and County of Swansea Council.

Innogy Renewables.

Project Description
The development of the wind farm entails:
• the installation of 16 wind turbines, each with a maximum height to blade tip of 127 m;
• the construction of about 14.54 km of new access tracks on the route and the main wind farm site;
• the use of and improvements to 3.9 km of existing unclassified road across Mynydd Pysgodlyn;
• the construction of ancillary development comprising an on-site electrical substation and compound, 16 crane hard-standing areas, one external transformer adjacent to each turbine if required, underground connecting cabling and one permanent wind monitoring mast; and
• the creation of a temporary construction compound close to the site entrance and one temporary wind monitoring mast, which will be in place during the construction period only.

Once operational the wind farm will have an installed capacity of 32.8 MW and will generate enough electricity to power more than 22 000 average UK households a year.

Senvion has signed a contract with Innogy Renewables to supply 16 wind turbines to the Mynydd y Gwair Wind Farm project.
