Company Announcement - Murray & Roberts companies Resources & Industrial and Electrical & Control Systems, located within Murray & Roberts’ Energy & Industrial operating platform, are well placed to take a leading role in the South African integrated engineering and construction industry by offering a value added total solutions approach, Mile Sofijanic, Managing Director, says. Sofijanic reveals that ‘bolt-on’ acquisitions may be on the cards to enable these two businesses to meet the full multidisciplinary engineering and construction needs of its diverse customer base. “This will definitely place us at the leading edge of the South African engineering and construction industry, where such integrated service offerings are critical to reduce costs and improve margins.”

Murray & Roberts Resources & Industrial offers an integrated approach to structural, mechanical, plate work and piping solutions within the metals, minerals beneficiation and industrial sectors. Murray & Roberts Electrical & Control Systems provides a range of services to clients in the electrical and instrumentation engineering and construction fields, focusing on sectors such as metals and minerals, water, petrochemical, oil and gas and power.

The Murray & Roberts Group aims to be a leading international diversified project engineering, procurement and construction group in selected natural resources market sectors by 2020. This strategy will be underpinned by the Group principle of ‘Engineered Excellence’. “We will focus on Engineering, Procurement and Construction contracts in southern African and across the continent,” Sofijanic says.

“The ongoing transformation of Resources & Industrial and Electrical & Control Systems into engineering-led construction companies is evident of the make-up of the Group, which is a well-resourced, engineering-led construction organisation that is truly international,” Sofijanic says.

The name changes of the companies, in keeping with their new positioning in the Energy & Industrial operating platform, “allows us to further leverage expertise and experience across the platform and provide our clients with a single and recognisable brand identity with whom to engage with,” Sofijanic concludes.
