Name and Location
Multinational road infrastructure and transport link improvement project, Mali and Côte d’Ivoire.

Client
The governments of Mali and Côte d’Ivoire.

Project Description
The project involves the development of multinational road infrastructure and transport links along the Bamako-Zantiebougou–Kolondieba–Boundiali–San Pedro corridor shared by Mali and Côte d’Ivoire. The project is expected to unlock Mali’s economy and to facilitate the transportation of people and goods.

It involves the construction of 140 km of improved asphalt roads, the creation of a high-quality transport corridor between Bamako, in Mali, and the Port of San Pedro, in Côte d’Ivoire. The road passes through one of the country’s major farming regions. The works include the installation of solar-powered lighting systems in several locations, the construction of multipurpose centres for women’s associations and the provision of farm produce processing kits.

Other components of the project include the provision of drinking water wells; the development of 100 km of rural footpaths; the renovation of health centres; and the provision of medical equipment, ambulances and three-wheeled vehicles to transport patients.

It also includes the development of local markets with childcare facilities and the construction of bus stations.

It also includes the construction of urban roads in Kolondieba and a checkpoint, as well as a cattle market on the border between Mali and Côte d’Ivoire.

The project will be the largest of its type to be implemented in Mali.
