Telecommunications group MTN on Monday announced that its group CFO and executive FD Nazir Patel had resigned with immediate effect.

The group stated that Patel had indicated that he did not wish his continued employment to prejudice the company in respect of certain allegations made against him. The allegations were subject to an ongoing investigation that had been commissioned by the company.

Brett Goschen had been appointed group CFO and executive FD with immediate effect. He joined the group as CFO of MTN Nigeria in 2002.

Goschen was appointed CEO of MTN Ghana in 2006 and returned to MTN Nigeria as CEO in 2011.

“The board is confident that Goschen has the appropriate expertise and experience for his new role,” MTN said in a statement.
