Telecommunications group MTN on Thursday announced the appointment of Suren Sooklal as group chief business risk officer, effective immediately.

He was succeeding Shauket Fakie, who was retiring this month after eight years in the role.

Sooklal, formerly a group audit engagement partner and group relationship partner at PwC, would be tasked with establishing and implementing a risk management framework for MTN to manage all risk exposure.

He would also be required to work with the business leadership team and MTN operations to ensure risks were identified and proactively managed.
