Company Announcement - The visitors to this year's Motek trade show in Stuttgart and the SPS IPC Drives show in Nürnberg (25 to 27 November 2014) will see some interesting innovations. Voith will present a wear-free alternative to the electromechanical shaft: the CLDP servo drive is setting the standard in drive technology. The benefits of the servo drive will be demonstrated at the fair booth (Motek: Hall 9, Booth 9004; SPS IPC Drives: Hall 3, Booth 205).

The CLDP servo drive can be used for all direct linear motions, especially when dynamic response, reproducibility and reliability are needed. Enhanced productivity, thanks to the speed of the drive and longer lifetime, are attractive features for plant operators. Unlike electromechanical shafts, this self-contained linear drive offers a high level of overload protection and wear-free operation. The maintenance interval is three years – operators benefit from the low maintenance costs. The servo drive covers a power range from 25 kN to 500 kN and speeds of up to 1000 mm/s. Force and position control are simple and precise. In addition, the servo drive is com-pact and available in three different designs. This makes for very simple system integration.

The servo drive design is simple: The heart of the unit is an integrated servo pump. The motion of the motor is directly linked to the cylinder movement so that the rotational speed and direction of the servo motor deter-mine the cylinder's speed and direction of motion. This makes implementing the most varied speed and travel profiles a simple matter.

The self-contained compact drive operates in a closed circuit and is equipped only with one electronic interface; there's no need for typical hydraulic components such as a power pack, valves, pipes, and hoses. The CLDP servo drive combines the benefits of electromechanical shaft drives with the benefits of hydraulics: energy efficiency, wear-free operation together with a high power density.
