Manufacturing local solar energy products for the past 25 years, Port Elizabeth-based solar electronic components manufacturer Microcare is the only South African company that manufactures MPPT Solar Regulators, Pure Sine Wave Bi-Directional Inverters, Grid-Tied Inverters and a range of Solar Components ideal for South African conditions.

Established in 1990, the company has grown rapidly over the past two years as the demand for renewable energy has increased owing to rising energy costs and limited availability of electricity. Driven by local innovation, Microcare has designed and developed products for various municipality contracts over the past year that required the production of 1 kW solar generation systems for Reconstruction and Development Programme housing projects.

Owing to his knowledge in the manufacture of solar electronic components, which spans over 40 years, Microcare MD Jimmy Catt indicates that this contributes to the company’s growth and to its in-house research and development team that designs and develops these proudly South African products.

All products manufactured by the company are tested to meet comprehensive quality control standards and installed by about 250 qualified installers around the country. This dedication to quality, local content and efficient practices has ensured that Microcare is able to offer products that are competitively priced and unaffected by interest rates.

Among the products the company manufactures are Power and Battery Monitors, Built-In Photovoltaic Panel Regulators, single- and three-phase Solar Pump Controllers and Uninterruptible Power Supply Backup Battery Systems, to name but a few.
Microcare offers assistance with solar system design and runs three solar courses, including an entry solar course, solar theory and a practical installation course for installers and distributors of Microcare products.
The call-in centre is available for technical problem solving and backup support, with upgrades and repairs completed within 24 to 48 hours.
