In 2015 Milan hosts Expo 2015, the Universal Exposition. The city is reinventing itself during the course of this and next year in preparation for the event. A breath-taking skyline, new cycle paths, subways tunnels, an efficient lighting system are just some examples of a stunning urban renovation without parallel in Europe. The driving force behind these urban developments is energy efficiency and sustainability. The city is not only conforming with the latest building standards but is echoing the main theme of the Expo: Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life.
The new lighting system represents a major part of this project and, via a tender by A2A the service utility company that manages Milan’s electrical supply, some 84,000 LED luminaires will be installed by February 2015. AEC is going to light up Milan using the Italo LED street lantern which has been designed, engineered and manufactured by AEC in their state of the art facilities in Arezzo, Tuscany.
The Italo provides high quality lighting performance, excellent color rendering and optimum energy efficiency and the family consists of Italo 1, 2 and 3 – the same design in three different sizes – and Italo 2 Urban (in post top and suspended versions). The unique optical systems and a wide range of optics enables the products to be installed in most urban applications such as residential areas, parks, squares and city centres. Alessandro Cini, AEC CEO, comments “This project represents the talent and hard work of AEC, the entire team have been instrumental in delivering this success to our business. We are proud to offer Milan a Made in Italy, energy saving LED solution. We are excited to have the eyes of the world on Milan and AEC in 2015” .
AEC is founded on the themes of: Technology, Quality, Research and Passion. These factors drive their product development which is focused on constant technological up-grades, robust research attention to detail, aesthetic design and quality.
