Project Owner/s
PT Kayan Hydropower Nusantara, a joint venture between Indonesian companies PT Adaro Energy Indonesia and PT Kayan Patria Pratama Group, and Malaysia’s Sarawak Energy.

Project Description
The Mentarang Induk will be the biggest hydropower plant in Indonesia, with a capacity of 1 375 MW.

The project comprises a concrete-faced rockfill dam, designed with a dam crest height of 235 m and crest length of 815 m.

Planned Start/End Date
Dam construction is expected to take about six to seven years to complete and will be followed by an impoundment or a reservoir filling phase to create water storage covering about 22 800 ha.
