Memve'ele hydropower project, southern Cameroon.

Project Description
The Memve'ele project involves building a dam on the Ntem river, in the south of Cameroon, a road to the project site, a 200-MW power plant and electricity transmission lines to link it to the national grid.

$795-million.

Duration
Works on the routes, certain infrastructure and final studies are expected by March 2010 and the project is expected to be completed in December 2014.

Chinese firm Sinohydro has reached a preliminary agreement to take over the construction Memve'ele hydropower station, after British firm Globeleq/Sud Energie withdrew from the project in May 2009.

The government of Cameroon and Sinohydro both expect to reach the final agreement as soon as possible.
